HYPERACTIVITY IN CHILDREN
As parents tear their hair out and the child screams around the house, everyone is asking the question, ‘What’s wrong?’ The child is far more active than a child of that age should be. They are loud, noisy, squirm, run about, teachers complain and babysitters will not sit. When you go to their room in the morning the sheets are in a tangled mass on the floor.
Although some theorists think hyperactivity is hereditary, most believe it is related to diet ? too much sugar and food containing artificial dyes and additives, and refined carbohydrates are known causes of hyperactivity. Your child could possibly be allergic to salycilates. To find out which food causes problems, restrict suspected foods from the diet for a few weeks then re-introduce them, one at a time. If the problem returns, then restrict the food for at least 3 months before trying it again.
